Patricia Beach

Visitor’s Guide to Patricia Beach

Longing to get out of the madding noise and grunge of city life? Try out the Patricia Beach in Manitoba. It is one of the most beautiful, calm and unofficially nude beaches that North America sports. About an hour’s drive from Winnipeg, along the Perimeter Highway, this white sand oasis inside the Manitoba province is located within the Provincial Park of Patricia Beach. It is a peninsula beach on the Lake of Winnipeg that makes a clean and lovely doorway for the day. Tourists from around the world, flock in a large number, on this coastline.

The Sand and the Water:
Walking through a small pathway through bushes and trees and a bit further will take to the wide spectacular, white sandy area. This is where the Patricia Beach starts from. In spite of being a low maintenance park, it is one of the finest beaches North America houses. You will also find changing rooms, fire pits, plumbed washrooms, picnic tables, tap water for drinking, etc. in between the beach and the parking lot. The area is surprisingly large where you can stroll along the even sandy shores or just spread out in the open. The sand is clean and smooth. You will not find dirt littering over the benches. And if you go on weekends you will hardly find other tourists.
The water is cool and refreshing. Loll on the sand and then take a dip in the moderately cool water to have an invigorating effect. As the water is very calm on clear days, even kids and timid swimmers can try out swimming in the water. There is ample place of wading for novices. Hike along the shore to get more.

Natural beauty:

The Patricia Beach is a pleasant natural experience for reviving yourself from the hum drums of civilization. The view of the open endless water from the beach is acquittal and emancipating. You can also get to watch a variety of wild birds, some of which are native to the place while others are migratory. If you stick around till dark, you will be able to feel the natural backdrop of the place. The city lighting that tarnishes the marvelous view of the night time is no where to be seen around.
Optional Clothing Area:
If you want something more, then the follow the trails of trees that lead you to a clearing. This part of the beach is at the eastern extreme of the mile long shore and has been unofficially declared as the nude beach for the last 50 years. Clothing is optional in this part of Patricia Beach. If you are looking for further privacy, then head towards the trees, behind which you will get some seclusion from the rest.

Food:
There are a few snack bars and counters that offer fast foods and snacks, but unfortunately they are not always open. There are also some beverage counters that make great fruit juices and drinks. In case of entry of vehicles in the parking lot of Patricia Beach, you will be charged with a nominal fee.
